Dispelling Vaccine Myths

Coronavirus Crisis

The earth has undoubtedly melted too much ice on its bosom before this pandemic as well, nevertheless it has never seen such an apocalyptic dance of fire before. Not this dance of death, at least. This is an evil tenure indeed when the devil is hanging his sword on every head, the Covid-19 vaccine has cameoed like Shah Rukh Khan, urging everyone to get injected with this defense against the invisible enemy. Damn! We, the people used to procrastination, are still busy questioning the efficiency of vaccines, busy doubting the slumber-stealing efforts of our dedicated scientists.

Vaccine hesitancy

There is a rumor that is going around in India – “the vaccine is unsafe.” Many even managed to plant the false belief in our minds that vaccines are deadly. These hype-carriers seem to be the ambassadors of the devilish disease, aiming at infecting the whole society.

There are still many who even feel that they don’t need a vaccine. They believe that the way they remained untouched from Covid-19 in the first wave, they would again emerge triumphant over this ongoing deadlier, and the upcoming deadliest wave as well.

Are vaccines absolutely safe?

Some people are targeting the vaccines instead of the enemy. They disagree to accept the fact that a vaccine, no matter how low or high its resistance against the disease, is manufactured to produce a protective shell inside our body against the infection. It is aimed at keeping the virus at bay.

The race is still on…

When Malaria hijacked our planet in the beginning, we didn’t have any spontaneous cure for it. Later, the same happened with Polio, AIDS, and many such deadly diseases. Their deadly impact remained burning subject for many years. A few of them like AIDS even settled down with us permanently in our society.

Moreover, all this didn’t become possible in a fortnight. It took a great deal of time for medical science to come up with some effective antidotes and advisories on them. Covid-19, similarly, will also take time, a great amount of time perhaps, for the medical science to come up with more impressive and accurate results.

That being asserted, Covid-19, of course, attacked the world in an unprecedented way, yet we should keep our battles going against every upcoming wave, abiding by the government advisories and cheering the corona warriors up.

Vaccinated people got infected?

Particularly, all corona warriors were vaccinated in the very first phase of vaccination but in a hurried manner. A lot of them even didn’t consider the time gap essential between the two doses. Therefore, the vaccine possibly failed to immunize the bodies effectively against the disease.

Currently, we have three vaccines available. Sputnik-V, Covaxin and Covishield. And, each vaccine has its own efficacy levels. Covaxin requires at least a gap of 28 days, whereas Covishield requires a gap of 45 days.

Why take precautions even after being vaccinated?

If you believe in God, it doesn’t mean the whole world has turned optimistic too. Likewise, if we are strictly advised to wear a mask, maintain proper distance, and use sanitizer to make sure we don’t become a disease-carrier for others even after being vaccinated.

Despite this, if we still catch infection, the vaccine in our blood will battle with the virus and abase it in a few days. But then, you will keep on spreading the disease so long as you’re battling it, and the same virus may infect someone else, who hasn’t yet been vaccinated. Hence, our objective should be to get vaccinated, and inspire others around for the same, keeping all the necessary precautions.
